Operating Engineers Local 49

Location

40276 Fishtail Road, Hinckley, MN  55037

Overview

Operating Engineers Local 49 takes on apprentices throughout the year. Local 49 is an intent to hire program – employment with a signatory contractor is required prior to entrance into the program. To get access to the list of signatory contractors, applicants must pass an entrance exam and show proof of high school diploma or G.E.D and driver's license. Then, applicants will receive a letter of eligibility from Local 49 and a list of signatory contractors with whom to apply.

To schedule an entrance exam, go to Local 49’s website and submit in application. Applicants will then receive a confirmation email to schedule a day for the entrance exams. Exams are conducted on the first Tuesday of every month from February to October and held at the Local 49 Training Center.

Following every entrance exam there is a question-and-answer session about next steps and program expectations. There is no application or exam fee.
