Restricted plumbing licenses
Since 2007, only licensed plumbing contractors or licensed restricted plumbing contractors may contract to perform plumbing work anywhere in Minnesota.

Prior to 2007, licensing was not required for plumbing work in cities with a population under 5,000 and unincorporated rural areas.

Contractors and individuals who perform plumbing work only in communities with a population under 5,000 must have regular or restricted plumbing licenses.

Restricted journeyworker plumber and restricted master plumber licenses were only available between 2007 and 2009.

No new restricted individual plumbing licenses are issued in Minnesota, though businesses may apply for a restricted plumbing contractor licenses if the business is owned by a licensed restricted master plumber or has a managing employee who holds a restricted master plumber license.
