The total available funding for the current grant cycle is up to $200,000. Applicants may apply for up to $100,000.

Grant timeline

  • Sept. 3, 2024:  The RFP (request for proposals) (application) period opens.

  • Sept. 23, 2024:  Last day to submit questions.

  • Sept. 27, 2024 at noon, Central Daylight Time:  Grant applications are due.

  • Nov. 2024:  Grant recipients announced.

  • Jan. 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026:  Grant period of performance.

Objective

This grant funding is to facilitate the participation and/or retention of people of color, Indigenous people, and women in registered apprenticeship programs through various means including outreach, education, assessment, preparation, support services, instruction, training, placement and retention activities.

There are currently 11,000 registered apprentices in Minnesota. However, women and communities of color have been historically underrepresented in apprenticeship participation.

Eligibility

  • Community-based or nonprofit organizations, including 501(c)3 and 501(c)5 organizations.

  • Minnesota Tribal governments as defined in Minn. Stat. §10.65.
