Building Inspection Services
Minneapolis inspections: For questions about permits and inspections in Minneapolis, contact the City of Minneapolis Inspections and Permits department.
The Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry has six regional building inspectors who office in six areas of the state. They have several responsibilities:
-
Inspection of public buildings and state-licensed facilities. This occurs when a project is to be constructed in a non-code area of the state or in those code-enforcing areas that don't have a delegation agreement with us for that work.
-
Assisting non-code municipalities with questions about the State Building Code. This includes making formal presentations to city councils, county and township boards and other associations regarding benefits of, and how to, adopt the State Building Code.
-
Assist with structure assessment following a disaster.
